Organic Standard

Organic standards are the rules and regulations that define how an organic product must be made.

Organic standards are set in European Union (EU) law. According to the EU law, anything labeled 'organic' must meet these standards.

The rules for Organic standards ensure that consumers can be certain that they are buying a genuine organic product.

Certification for “organic” according to the legal standards

In order to ensure the clients that the organic standards are really met, the law authorized certain independent institutes which are inspecting and supervising the organic farms. This institues are visiting the farms, testing the produce, and make sure that the produce is REALLY organic.

There are different inspecting bodies in Europe, which are authorized and licensed by the governments to carry out the inspections to ensure that the standards are being met.

GAIA’s suppliers are all inspected and certified by one of the following certificating body:

  • IMO Control – a well know Swiss certification institues
  • Balkan Biocert - The first Bulgarian institutes who is authorized to inspect and supervise the organic farm
  • QC&I Quality Assurance System – an Italian institute which operates in Bulgarian.

So, wherever you see GAIA’s symbol, you can be sure that the food you have purchased has been produced and processed according to strict environmental and health standards.
